What Can Pediatric Physical Therapy Address?

Crawling Baby

Gross Motor Skill Development

  • Does your child seem to be falling behind in their gross motor skills?

  • Does the doctor say, "Give it time", but you're still concerned?

  • Does your child seem to be struggling to keep up with other children or their peers?

  • Is your baby not doing what other babies their age are doing?

Then a PT evaluation may be just what this doctor ordered!  Contact us today for a free 15 min phone consultation to see if PT would help!

Standing on a Ball

Balance and Coordination

  • Does your child appear to be clumsy? Do they trip and fall a lot?

  • Do they struggle to get dressed without losing their balance?

  • Can they climb at the playground, run and jump like peers, or catch and throw a ball?

  • Can they walk on all different surfaces without loss of balance?

  • Can they ride their bike?

PT can help address all these areas and more!  PT can help develop strength and balance to improve gait, coordination, and other gross motor skills!

Bare Feet

Gait

  • Does your child have difficulty walking?

  • Do they always walk up on their tip toes?

  • Do their feet turn out or turn in?

  • Do they trip and fall frequently?

  • Do they wear out the tips of their shoes?

  • Is it challenging for them to walk up or down the stairs?

  • Do they need to hold your hand when walking on unlevel surfaces?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, then PT may be helpful!  PT can help address muscle imbalances, balance challenges, and coordination deficits that influence gait and movement.

Postural Control and Endurance

  • Does your baby have difficulty maintaining sitting balance?

  • Can they only sit with their legs in 1 position or with a wide base of support?

  • Do they slouch over when sitting?

  • Do they only sit in a W position?

  • Does your older child have difficulty sitting still? Do they frequently lay their head down or prop themselves up when sitting at the table?

  • Do they struggle with handwriting or school work?

Your child may have decreased core strength and postural stability and endurance.  PT could be just what they need to improve their posture, positioning, and learning!
